Project Overview
For The Grateful Podcast's latest production, we took the show on location to Manhattan for a full-scale shoot built around two guest interview episodes. This wasn't a standard recording session. Full lighting design, multi-camera setup, and a dedicated photo shoot came together to give Jack Wagoner's conversations a visual standard that matched the caliber of the guests sitting across from him.
Our Approach
We treated this shoot as two productions running in parallel: the episodes themselves, and the behind-the-scenes content built specifically for cross-platform use. Every setup decision, from lighting to camera blocking, was made with both outputs in mind from the start.

Our priorities included:
Elevated Production Design – Building a lighting and camera setup that gave the episodes a cinematic, high-end look worthy of the guests and the conversations happening on set.
Photo & BTS Capture – Running a full photo shoot alongside the video production to create a library of stills and behind-the-scenes footage for use across every platform, not just the podcast feed.
On-Set Content Direction – Guiding pacing, framing, and moments on set so the footage worked as both finished episode content and standalone social content.
Key Challenges & Solutions
Matching the Guests – Top-tier guests demand a top-tier set. We solved this with a full lighting and camera build that elevated the visual quality of the episodes to match the level of the people being interviewed.
One Shoot, Two Outputs – Producing usable BTS content alongside a live interview shoot without disrupting either. We built a workflow that captured both simultaneously, giving the podcast finished episodes and a full bank of social-ready content from a single production day.
